Miss Mame is an American poet, philanthropist, bilingual, military veteran, and children’s book author. She is a mother of four, Grand Mamie of five, and Miss Mamie to hundreds. In her book, “Down in the Amazon”, she hopes to connect readers directly to the unique human experience of those living in this remarkable and fragile region. She intends that this true story plant seeds in the reader that will contribute to the healing of our shared home, Mother Earth. Miss Mamie gives back by bringing jungle adventures to local schools and participating in reading and writing workshops. She likes traveling to the Amazon Rainforest, supporting students of all ages, studying history, and learning new things through archaeology and language studies. Miss Mamie began writing poetry when she was six years old. She encourages everyone to write a “little something” every day.
